Sony just announced today that the sales of Final fantasy VII on the PSN has hit the 100k mark in just two short weeks, something many full retail games can't even accomplish. That means Sony and Square-Enix have just earned what amounts to be 1 million dollars in free revenue. Hrrm, maybe releasing incredibly popular PS1 titles on the PSN does make sense... shame it took Sony two and a half years to figure that bit out. Regardless, it's great to see PS1 classics getting good traction on the PSN in this day and age -- crazy how a 12-year-old game can still be that popular. The really intriguing thing in my opinion, would be to find out how many people out there are now playing it for the first time ever. I wasted about 100 hours of my youth obsessively playing FFVII when it first came out, so I'm passing on downloading it -- but the idea of a younger person playing one of the biggest classics of yesteryear for the first time is a tantalizing and delicious possibility. |

While perusing the boatload of E3 trailers that Sony loaded up onto the PSN store, I noticed something interesting. All games that had an online component had the PSN logo at the end of the trailer. For example, Uncharted 2 finishes with a PSN logo -- but Heavy Rain doesn't. What makes this interesting is that the trailer for the new Ratchet and Clank Future titles does end with a PSN logo. Multiplayer is not something that has been mentioned for A Crack in Time, so it's intriguing to see that little logo sitting there at the end of the trailer. This could always just be a simple mistake made during the mad rush to generate all trailers for E3, but I have a feeling it isn't. Insomniac has had multiplayer in at least two Ratchet and Clank games --and while the first Ratchet and Clank Future game was purely a solo affair, adding multiplayer back in would help differentiate A Crack in Time from its Future predecessor. Also, with many people feeling that the R&C series has gotten stale, multiplayer could help re-invigorate the franchise. Insomniac isn't saying anything now, but I imagine it's only a matter of time before we get the low-down on multiplayer in A Crack in Time. Personally, I'd love some co-op myself... |

 For all those fans eagerly awaiting a game featuring characters from a variety of niche RPGs and several fighters from Darkstalkers, prepare your wallets for Cross Edge! The game ships today, which means the most unfortunate of us will have to wait until Thursday or even Friday to get it. Due to its implied limited release, the game is quickly going to vanish from store shelves and get a price hike on Amazon and eBay, so it would be best to get it as soon as possible. The game features ho-hum 2D sprites and so-so 3D graphics pushed into 720p territory, but the gameplay is solid. You can get a better feel for it by checking out our impressions of the Japanese demo from a while back. Also, the PS Blog has put up a trophy list for the game. You can check the list out there, or hit the "Read More" link below to check out our awesome copy/paste skills. These aren't too tough, so the trophy-hunters can be thrilled at the idea of a fairly easy Platinum on the horizon. We'll have a review for this game in the coming weeks. Last month I attended the Sony Gamers Day event up here in sunny Seattle. While I was able to talk about MAG and inFAMOUS right after the event, there was one game I had to keep quiet on -- The Agency. This action based MMO is in development for the PC and PS3 by the good fellows over at SOE Seattle and is looking pretty good. A bit early on the PS3 side, but quite intriuging -- and hey, not a lot of console MMOs to give it competition! Check out my full impressions over at Joystiq. |

Telltale Games is kicking off its fifth anniversary celebration today! In 2004, Kevin Bruner and Dan Connors founded Telltale, Inc. with a new perspective on gaming. With years of experience working on grand scale projects akin to "blockbuster movies," Bruner and Connors created Telltale to establish a more nimble, faster-paced, digitally-distributed episodic game model comparable to television production. Five years later—with over one million episodes sold—Telltale is celebrating with an eye toward an even brighter future.

Telltale's most recent project, Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, is releasing monthly on PC and coming soon to XboxLiveArcade. A new series in development will be announced at E3.
"The episodic model has been incredibly rewarding from a development standpoint," says CTO and co-founder Kevin Bruner. "It used to be we only made two or three games a decade. At Telltale, we release a new game every month, which fosters greater creativity with the teams, and the customers get to enjoy more content on a regular basis."
